PGS Berlin: Europe Qualifier finals — ask the experts

Posted by GEVGA Editor March 4, 2020 in PUBG

Starting Friday, March 7, 24 of Europe’s top PUBG sides will lock horns for a place at PGS Berlin – the first PUBG Global Series event of the year.

It’s sure to be an exciting weekend, with a mixture of both experienced and new sides travelling to the German capital.

Of course, it’s impossible to know what will happen on the battlegrounds, with matches being about as predictable as the Erangel weather this time of year, but that hasn’t stopped us putting those tough questions to the experts – our team of PUBG casters for the qualifier.

Can you tell us about your hosting style?

After 10 years of esports broadcasting experience, I would describe myself as a “professional dork” when hosting. I’m able to keep the show on track regardless of what happens, but I also like to allow the desk to open up and have fun banter with one another, resulting in an informative, but laid-back time. Nerdy references are a must.

Which six teams do you predict will qualify for PGS Berlin?

In no particular order: Team Liquid, RÄHINÄ eGameStars, ENCE, TSM, NAVI and Omaken Sports.

Could we see any surprises?

Absolutely. With the roster shake ups in the last year, there is a lot of potential for teams’ synergies to gel where they have not before.

While I think some of the swaps meant strong rosters got stronger, there are still some wildcard teams out there that can challenge them.

What are you looking forward to most about the PGS Berlin: Europe Qualifier finals?

It’s going to be great to get back to some LAN PUBG as well as see all our friends in the community again! We always have endless laughs on and off camera which is fantastic.

How would you describe your casting style to new PUBG fans?

I’ve always tried to tell a story. PUBG, for me, is this unwritten book that has a start and an ending. We will always dip into play-by-play because that’s the nature of the beast with some of the high intensity moments, but I also focus on trying to provide updates where people are off cam and on what is going on in and around the circle on a bigger scale.

Which six teams do you predict will qualify for PGS Berlin?

It’s tough to call but I will go for Team Liquid, TSM, WTSG, Raise Your Edge Gaming, NAVI and Eligiganten Gaming.

Which players and rosters are you most excited to see?

Team Liquid. After a lackluster performance at The PUBG Global Championship (PGC) and a new lineup, a lot of fans are excited to see what the new look Liquid can do, me included.

Could we see any surprises?

Very easily. As stated before, the PGC Liquid flop shows that any of the teams could go crashing out. And one of the rosters who came via the online qualifiers could very easily sneak a spot at PGS Berlin!

What are you looking forward to most about the PGS Berlin: Europe Qualifier finals?

Mainly getting back into PUBG. For me personally, I’ve had a little break since PEL and PGC and have also cast some other stuff this year.

PUBG is one of those games that’s exciting and fun to work on, and I couldn’t be happier to be a part of the first official major event of the year.

How would you describe your casting style to new PUBG fans?

A mixture of sitting down the pub yelling at the TV and a casual conversation with a good friend.

Which six teams do you predict will qualify for PGS Berlin?

After such a long break and very few official games to go off, it’s almost impossible to guess and feel confident in that choice.

Which players and rosters are you most excited to see?

I’m most excited to see all of them, I feel like I’m seeing old friends again.

Could we see any surprises?

I think seeing how 2020 shapes up will be our biggest surprise. Who knows how it will go.

What are you looking forward to most about the PGS Berlin: Europe Qualifier finals?

Seeing The Simms.

How would you describe your analysis style?

It’s different from game-to-game, but I try to break down the more complicated tactics the teams are using, I also point out key moments that make a team succeed or fail in the games.

Which six teams do you predict will qualify for PGS Berlin?

In no particular order: Team Liquid, WTSG, TSM, Omaken Sports, ENCE & Raise Your Edge Gaming.

Which players and rosters are you most excited to see?

The most interesting ones are probably Team Liquid, WTSG, TSM and NAVI since they were some of the teams we saw at PGC and they have now gone through roster changes.

What are you looking forward to most about the PGS Berlin: Europe Qualifier finals?

Seeing all these new rosters battling it out in an offline event and showing their true potential and strengths in a competitive environment!

What type of analyst are you?

As a former player, my analysis is based on my knowledge, and focused on how the players think and make decisions throughout the match.

Which six teams do you predict will qualify for PGS Berlin?

Team Liquid, TSM, Omaken Sports, WTSG, Tornado Energy and ENCE.

Which players and rosters are you most excited to see?

I am looking forward to seeing the new rosters of WTSG and TSM compete.

Could we see any surprises?

I think we will see the usual teams perform well, but I am expecting maybe one or two top teams to underperform and not qualify.

What are you looking forward to most about the PGS Berlin: Europe Qualifier finals?

I am excited to see this format for the qualifier. There are going to be some nail biting matches, especially on the last day.

Can you tell us a bit about your style?

My casting style is hyped, funny and telling you guys at home the story in a beautiful way.

As a host I take you on a journey through the entire event, making sure that even if you don’t watch the full game you get all the information you need.

As an interviewer, I don’t waste time with boring questions. I want to know the reasons behind the teams’ decisions, and go in-depth with questions that the viewers at home may have.

Which six teams do you predict will qualify for PGS Berlin?

I’ll go for Team Liquid, NAVI, TSM, Omaken Sports, Diamond Dogs and Tornado Energy.

Who excites you most at the PGS Berlin: Europe Qualifier finals?

Northern Lights always excites me, I want to see what upsets they can cause going into this one, they are certainly not to be underestimated. TeaBone as an individual has always delivered, I don’t understand how he pulls off some of the shots he does!

Could we see any surprises?

In this kind of setting there are always surprises, you have to remember that teams and players get very comfortable playing from home. The players who can hold their nerves and play to the same level on LAN will have an advantage, the same as any players who have LAN experience. A team like Liquid should thrive in a situation like this, but this is PUBG and anything can happen!

What are you looking forward to most about the PGS Berlin: Europe Qualifier finals?

Personally, I am looking forward to seeing the teams and players back on LAN, to find out who has been working the hardest and if practice results really show us everything going on here.

I want to see players get hyped, watch the emotions flow in their faces throughout the game and see how close it can get for such an important event on the PUBG calendar.

The qualifier will take place on the 6th, 7th and 8th of March at Messe Berlin, and fans can tune in live to watch the action at www.twitch.tv/playbattlegrounds. Matches start at 17:00 CET each day!
