Moonton announced Filippino professional boxer turned senator Manny Pacquio as the brand ambassador for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang in the Philippines. The move comes shortly after the game celebrated its milestone of 1B downloads globally.
The official announcement claimed that 70% of its players in the country are fans of the boxing legend. The game’s inclusion in the SEA Games in 2019 laid the foundations to the legitimization of the sport in the country and helped convince Pacquiao to be the face of the game. Currently serving a six year term as senator, he also iterated that his son Jimuel is a fan of the game and regularly streams the game with his friends.
To commemorate the partnership, the developers will also launch a character based on Pacquiao in the game known as Paquito. Arnold Vegafria, Pacquiao’s business manager, said the endorsement fee coming from the deal will also be used to fund the senator’s relief operations for victims of typhoon Ulysses.
Currently, there are over 100M registered users and 25M monthly active users in the Philippines for Mobile Legends.
